About Black Santa Maryland Founders

After welcoming my second child, I yearned for a family photo with Black Santa, hoping to capture the joy and magic of the holidays in a way that reflects our heritage. To my dismay, I discovered that there were no Black Santas available in the Maryland area. It was a profound disappointment, especially considering that African Americans make up over 75% of Maryland’s population. I couldn’t believe Black Santa wouldn’t be part of our community celebrations. After two years of searching without success, I decided to take matters into my own hands and find him myself.

Therapy Noire ( my private practice) to the rescue…

Representation is vital for a minority child’s mental well-being, especially during the holiday season. Seeing themselves reflected in positive, joyful holiday experiences fosters a sense of belonging, self-worth, and confidence. When children see role models who look like them in beloved seasonal figures or festive stories, it helps validate their identity and affirms their place in a world that often overlooks them. Holidays can become a celebration of cultural pride, family unity, and community resilience, nurturing a child’s emotional foundation and empowering them to dream beyond societal limitations.
Therapy Noire LLC champions the mental health and self-care practices essential for fostering well-being, especially in times that can feel challenging. This holiday season, Therapy Noire is hosting an event designed to showcase the joy, cheer, and love that come from community connection. This event provides a safe, inclusive space where children can enjoy the magic and nostalgia of the holidays while learning about self-worth and resilience. Through this celebration, Therapy Noire aims to bring warmth and comfort to families, offering children a joyful holiday experience that recognizes and affirms their unique identities.
